Trapiche
Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

"The Unrepentant Alcoholic has a new "housewine"...red, of course.
Trapiche Cabernet Sauvignon 1997 (Argentina) At its
cheerful price of $8.25CDN, one could be forgiven to expect a mediocrity
characterized by green unripened fruit, disjointed flavours, and a short
flabby finish. Instead, we get a medium bodied, honest red with simple
but well-integrated flavours. This gentle balance partners well with food.
My favorite match so far is Pesto on Linguini. At its 12.5% alcohol
level, this is not a blockbuster "take no prisoners" cabernet but its
elegance more than compensates for the extra time required to imbibe myself
into a drunken stupor. "
